CRAIG Kopczak completed a hat-trick as Wakefield Trinity Wildcats succumbed to a 40-18 Super League XVI defeat at Bradford Bulls.

John Kear’s men got off to a flying start when Frankie Mariano powered over for the opening try but the Bulls responded and Tom Olbison and Shad Royston both crossed before Kopczak ran in a brace.

Patrick Ah Van’s 100 per-cent conversion rate steered the hosts to a 24-6 half-time lead.

Wakefield piled on the pressure at the start of the second period but Bradford held out and Royston celebrated his second of the day, again converted by Ah Van.

Luke George added to Wakefield’s tally on 65 minutes but Shaun Ainscough responded with an unconverted score before Kopczak grabbed his third seven minutes from time.

Wildcats finished the game with a consolation score from Kieran Hyde, improved by Josh Veivers.
