Wakefield Trinity Wildcats head coach Richard Agar has welcomed back a host of first-team regulars to his 19-man squad to face Widnes Vikings in Super League on Friday (kick-off 8pm).
Agar took the opportunity to rest key men, physically and mentally, in Saturday’s Tetley’s Challenge Cup fourth round triumph over Kingstone Press Championship 1 side Hemel Stags.
The Wildcats boss will welcome ten of those rested players back for the trip to the Stobart Stadium, including captain Danny Kirmond, half-back Tim Smith and wing wizards Ben Cockayne and Peter Fox.
Jon Molloy is named in a 19-man Super League squad for Wakefield for the first time but the second row is expected to miss out as Agar gets his new recruit up to full speed for the top flight following a long spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Richie Mathers is the only first-team absentee as he sits out another week through injury. The full-back ruptured a testicle and also suffered a foot injury in Wakefield’s defeat at Wigan Warriors earlier this month.
Wildcats’ 19-man squad: Fox, Collis, L Smith, Cockayne, Sykes, T Smith, Poore, Aiton, Raleigh, Lauitiiti, Kirmond (c), Washbrook, Wood, Amor, Wilkes, Mellars, Lyne, Annakin, Molloy.
