WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats have welcomed half-back Jeremy Smith back into their 19-man squad for Friday’s Super League trip to Crusaders.
Smith has made just one Super League appearance so far this season, in Wakefield’s 32-6 defeat against his former club Salford, but has impressed in the club’s last two reserve games.
But John Kear, the Wakefield head coach, will be without the services of the injured Luke George.
George sustained a hip flexor strain in the Wildcats’ Carnegie Challenge Cup victory over Doncaster on Sunday, but it’s hoped he’ll return in time for the derby clash with Castleford Tigers in the next round of the competition next week.
Crusaders have named former Wildcats Frank Winterstein and Richard Moore in their 19-man squad.
Meanwhile, Motu Tony has returned to the club after being away on compassionate leave. The close season addition is expected to feature in Wakefield’s next reserve team game.
Wakefield squad: Blaymire, Murphy, Korkidas, Rinaldi, King, Henderson, Morrison, Lee, Smith, Johnson, Dean, Morton, Mariano, Howarth, Veivers, Higgins, Hyde, Griffin, Amor.
Crusaders squad: Schifcofske, Thomas, Mellars, Reardon, Witt, Sammut, O’Hara, Bryant, Cahill, Winterstein, Peek, Flower, Hanbury, Kear, White, Dudson, Moore, Lupton, Tansey.
