WAKEFIELD Wildcats will be hoping to leave Headingley Carnegie with the Rugby League Nines trophy when they compete in tonight’s finals.
John Kear’s men won ten of their 12 group games, including a double over Leeds Rhinos and treble against Halifax RLFC, to claim top spot in the East Region table and qualify for the finals the tournament tonight.
They join teams from Wigan Warriors, Hull FC, Salford City Reds, Castleford Tigers, Cumbria, Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves in the quest for Nines glory.
Wildcats kick-off against Salford in their opening qualifier at 6.20pm and their squad is made up of a mix of first team and reserve team players.
French trialist Samy Masselot is named in the squad, along with the first team players Chris Dean, Josh Veivers and Josh Griffin.
The Wildcats Dolls will provide the entertainment on the night and the rugby league’s fastest man event will also take place.
Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and children can go for free.
