WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats have signed Batley Bulldogs scrum-half Gareth Moore.
The 21-year-old has penned a two-year deal at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium and is the club’s second signing in a week following the addition of Jarrad Hickey, pending a visa.
Wakefield chief executive James Elston said: “We’re delighted to welcome Gareth on board. He will add creativity and strength in depth to our current squad. He is an exciting young prospect and I look forward to seeing him in action for Wakefield.”
Moore said: “I’m really excited about my new opportunity here at Wakefield. I’m looking forward to working full time and proving myself at Super League level. I can’t wait to meet everyone and get on the pitch with the team.”
The former Leeds Rhino has received glowing reviews for his performances with Batley in the Co-operative Championship and played in the Bulldogs side that lifted the Northern Rail Cup last season.
He also had loan spells with Halifax and York before joining Batley from the Rhinos and represented Scotland in 2009.
Moore hasn’t been included in Wakefield’s squad to face Castleford Tigers on Friday but could get his chance in the Super League clash with Wigan Warriors at Belle Vue on Monday.
