Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Leeds Rhinos fans are set for a festive treat on Boxing Day when the two sides meet in the Tetley’s Festive Challenge at Headingley Carnegie (11.30am kick-off).

Both clubs are set to field strong teams in the annual game which ended in an 18-18 draw last year when Wakefield’s Bobbie Goulding kicked a last gasp penalty goal.

With only three players from the Rhinos involved in the England squad currently in New Zealand for the Four Nations, it will be strongest team that the club have been able to field for a number of years including new signing Adam Cuthbertson.

Likewise, Wakefield will be looking to continue the great form they finished last season with under new head coach James Webster including defeating the Rhinos at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

The Rhinos have increased the discount for members from last season with 2014 and 2015 members for both clubs able to purchase their ticket for just £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for juniors aged 16 and under for standing and seating for £20 for adults, £13 for concessions and £5 for juniors aged 16 and under.

Following feedback from the club’s fans forum, for the 2014 Tetley’s Festive Challenge a new special family ticket for non-members has been introduced. This will cost £40 for standing or £50 for seats (based on two adults plus two juniors). The family tickets are not available to purchase online but can be ordered at the Club Shop or by calling 0871 423 1315 (calls cost 10p per minute – calls from mobiles may vary).

Rhinos chief Executive Gary Hetherington said: “The Boxing Day game is always a great family occasion.

“Having received feedback from our Fans Forum we have looked to put in a place a pricing structure that is attractive to members and non-members. With ourselves and Wakefield looking to field strong teams, I cannot think of a better value for money day out for all the family over the Christmas period and I hope the fans turn out in great numbers.

“As usual, it will be chance for both sets of fans to see some new faces for the first time in their club colours and with child entry for just £5 and families able to all come for just £40 it promises to be another Festive cracker,” added Hetherington.

Rhinos members with seats have until 6pm on Monday, December 1, to purchase their seat for the Tetley’s Festive Challenge, all unsold reserved seats will go on general sale from December 2.
