SANDAL welcome Penrith to Milnthorpe Green today for the second Saturday in succession after the Cumbrian side refused to play the National League 3 North match last weekend.

The Penrith contingent made the trip to Milnthorpe Green last Saturday, but felt the pitch was too hard following the overnight frost.

After a full warm-up they conveyed their decision to the referee just 15 minutes before kick-off.

Jim Kilfoyle’s side, however, was prepared and ready to play as Sandal believed the pitch had thawed sufficiently and was indeed playable.

“It requires, however, both sides to agree to play otherwise the match is postponed as in these days of litigation the referee is obliged to accept the decision in case of injury,” explained a Sandal spokesman.

Due to unavailability, Sandal will be without full-back Mark Pease and no8 Josh Ferguson, so Jake Balderson and Jonny Gatus join the matchday squad:

Sandal (home to Penrith, kick-off 2.15pm): T Smith, S Lig, D McCormack, D Martin, J Balderson, G Wood, G Newman, J Warwick, J Heron, R Norbury, A Norbury, J Riley, A Thompson, T Proctor, J Gatus, J Stewart, T Hirst, S Maguire.
