SANDAL RUFC first team coach Jim Kilfoyle will be seeking a more energised performance from his team on Saturday when they visit Rossendale.

The Milnthorpe Green men were under-par in last weekend’s 17-15 home defeat to Darlington Mowden Park and although Sandal had late chances to steal the win, it would have been an undeserved success.

Sandal completed the double over the Lancashire side last season but the Marl Pits outfit finished in third place just outside the play-off position and are always a formidable proposition on their exposed sloping pitch.

Dan McCormack, Sam Whittingham and Andy Hall are all unavailable so Tom Smith, Josh Ferguson and Danny Mitchell slot in at fly-half, number eight and centre respectively, with the latter having recovered from injury and making his first appearance of the season.

Sandal 1st XV squad v Rossendale (away, kick-off 3pm): M Pease, A Orr, D Mitchell, D Martin, J Mulhern, T Smith, G Newman, J Purcell, J Heron, R Norbury, A Kemsley, J Riley, R Overton, J Stewart, A Thompson. S Lig, T Hirst, J Ferguson.

The team bus leaves at noon and supporters are welcome.
