SHARLSTON Rovers’ prolific try-scorer Gareth Davies has been handed a one-month trial at Featherstone Rovers.
Davies impressed Rovers head coach Daryl Powell when Sharlston took on the Co-operative Championship club at their Big Fellas Stadium in a trial game on Boxing Day.
He’ll train with Featherstone in the lead-up to the 2012 season and is set to feature for them in a pre-season trial game against Bradford Bulls on Sunday, January 15.
Streethouse-born Davies, who won the BARLA Man of Steel award for his performances for Sharlston last year, has already been on the books at Post Office Road before making the switch to Weeland Road.
He’ll be aiming to make the most of his second chance with the club over the next four weeks.
Davies was a key figure for Pennine League Sharlston last year, his highlight being the scorer of the last-gasp winning try in Rovers’ historic BARLA National Cup triumph.
Rovers return to action this Saturday. The first team hosts Upton in the Brian McDermott Memorial Cup, while Sharlston A visit Wakefield City in the semi-final of the Physiowise Cup, both kick-off at 2pm.
