Two talented rugby league players from Wakefield College have been handed the honour of representing their country.
Ryan Kelsey and Troy Anderson have achieved selection for the England Colleges squad thanks to performances for the college’s well-respected Rugby League Development Centre.
The pair will be in contention for a two-Test series against the Scottish College team this summer, with dates and venues to be confirmed.
Their selection continues a healthy trend of Wakefield College players making the grade in the England set-up.
Kelsey has represented the England College team before and although it is the first call-up for Anderson, he has been selected for the BARLA Great Britain U18s tour of Ukraine for a mini Test series this summer.
“Both of the students have had an outstanding season for Wakefield College often being at the forefront of the success that the college has achieved again this year,” said college coach Mick Bamford.
“They have set very high standards during their time with the college side and have been excellent role models for others to follow.”
Their selection was cemented thanks to performances for Yorkshire at the National Carnival, which is essentially a trial for England.
