WAKEFIELD Harriers distance runner Julie Briscoe has been called up to the England team that will compete in this autumn’s Toronto Marathon.

Briscoe went close to beating her personal best in the Brighton Marathon, last April, and her reward for a fine run is selection to the national squad in Canada for the second successive year.

Three Wakefield Harriers have been selected for the Yorkshire squad in the Inter-Counties Track and Field Championships, in Bedford.

Zara Hohn will race in the 100m hurdles, Sarah Bostwick will tackle the 3,000m steeplechase and Laura Robson will line-up in the 100m.

Chris Ward led the field home in the new Temple of Doom trail race, near Huddersfield.

In a field of 59 runners, Ward crossed the line ahead of John Mason while first lady to finish, Annabell Mason ran superbly to scoop sixth place overall.
