Luke Briscoe ran in a brace of tries as Wakefield Trinity Wildcats celebrated a 40-20 pre-season friendly win at Hunslet Hawks.

Max Jowitt marked his first team start for the visitors with the opening try and Briscoe pounced on a loose ball to race over for the Wildcats’ second.

Skipper Danny Kirmond added a third, Briscoe bagged his second and Peter Fox registered Trinity’s fifth before the break.

Both sides were reduced to 12 when Ali Lauitiiti and George Clarke were sent to the sin bin and Paul Sykes extended the Wildcats’ lead with a try soon after.

Hawks finished the game with a flourish and Lee Brickwood scored a quick-fire brace.

Corbyn Kilday responded for the visitors but Hawks closed the gap with late touch-downs from James Davies and John Oakes.
