Kevin Sinfield passed 4,000 career points as First Utility Super League leaders Leeds Rhinos defeated Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 48-22 at Headingley.

The game represented Trinity’s seventh successive loss and leaves them struggling at the foot of the table.

Ryan Hall broke the deadlock with a try converted by Sinfield but Tim smith replied for the visitors.

Zak Hardaker crossed for the hosts and Sinfield reached his milestone with the extras but back came Wakefield again and Craig Hall intercepted to race the length of the field for a try that levelled the scores.

Rob Burrow ran in two quick-fire scores and although Jarrod Sammut’s touch-down reduced the arrears to eight, Kallum Watkins added to the Rhinos’ tally before the break.

Leeds were in no mood to let Wakefield back in the game on the restart however and tries from Ash Handley, Andy Yates and Watkins secured the win for Leeds before Daniel Smith grabbed a consolation for the Wildcats.
