Countdown to Super League XVII: Trout pens new contract at Wakefield Wildcats

WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats back rower Kyle Trout has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the end of 2015.

The 20 year-old former Stanley Rangers amateur, who has been at the club for four years and was a member of the 2009 U18s academy title winning side, has impressed head coach Richard Agar since stepping up to the full-time ranks last year.

Trout said: “I’m really happy to have had the offer to stay and for it to come so early on in the year is great.

“I’ve watched Wakefield ever since I’ve started playing rugby so it’s a big thing for me and my family to play for Wakefield and it’ll be a very proud moment when I get the chance to make my Super League debut.

“I’ve loved being full-time and I’ve learnt a lot in this pre-season from the other players and the new coaching staff.”

Agar said: “I didn’t know a lot about him when I first arrived but he has shown a real appetite to learn and improve.

“He’s got a good frame, strong physical attributes as well as good speed, footwork and a nice touch with the ball in hand.

“It is pretty early to be renewing contracts but he was only on a one-year deal and he’s impressed us sufficiently to suggest that he has the potential to push on and become a Super League player.”
