Two Wakefield Trinity Wildcats players selected for England Academy squad
TWO of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats' 2009 Academy Grand Final winners have been included in the England Academy squad for next year.
Half-back Cain Southernwood and centre/back row forward Danny Cowling have been recognised by their country following a sensational 2009 campaign.
Selection for the squad gives the Wakefield duo a good chance of playing in internationals against France in June and the Australian High Schools in December.
29 players from ten engage Super League clubs make up the England Academy squad.
Wildcats Academy coach Tony Drury told Express Sport: "Both players deserve congratulations from everybody at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
"It is a magnificent achievement to be selected for your national squad.
"This is an initial squad of players and others can earn places in the squad if their form throughout the 2010 season brings them to the attention of the selectors."
He added: "There are other players at Wakefield who are capable of playing at international level and now they have an incentive to work hard throughout the 2010 season because the door for selection is still open."
