Wakefield Wildcats Academy win through to Grand Final
WAKEFIELD Wildcats Academy have booked their place in the Gillette Academy Championship Grand Final thanks to a 12-4 victory over Wigan Warriors.
Table-toppers Wakefield extended their unbeaten run to 16 games as tries from Dale Morton and Danny Cowling secured the win at the Hearwell Stadium and the youngsters will return to their home ground for the Grand Final on Saturday, October 3.
The Wildcats got off to a flying start when Cain Southernwood's 40/20 led to Morton crashing over for the opening try.
But the visitors responded on the 10 minute mark through Johnny Mallow's try and Wigan enjoyed a spell of dominance as they bossed territory.
Wakefield improved after the break and they extended their lead on 54 minutes when Matty Wildie's kick released Cowling to cross.
Jordan Grayston stepped-up to put the Wildcats eight points clear when he sent over a penalty on the hour mark.
