Wakefield Wildcats' Henderson relishing family affair at Murrayfield Magic

WAKEFIELD Wildcats centre Kevin Henderson is relishing this weekend's Murrayfield Magic clash with Leeds Rhinos.

Scottish international Henderson will return to John Kear's squad following a hand injury and will also make a rare appearance in front of his Scottish relatives in the Scottish capital.

His auntie lives in Glasgow and will be making the trip to watch Henderson and his Wakefield team mates try to stop a four-game losing streak against reigning champions Leeds Rhinos on Saturday (kick-off 7pm).

It makes the clash that extra bit special for the 29-year-old, who is raring to go after missing the last two Super League matches through injury.

"Yeah it's good playing up in Scotland. I enjoy the country and it's nice to see rugby league going up there," he said.

"My auntie came last year and she'll be coming with her husband and maybe her son this year so it'll be good and I'm looking forward to it.

"They don't come much down here (to Wakefield] but it's easier up there because my auntie's only half an hour away in Glasgow."

Wakefield will be desperate to get their Super League campaign firmly back on track following a disappointing run of results of late.

And Henderson insists there's no better way to do it than against the current Super League champions on a stage such as the Magic Weekend.

"Realistically it's just two points like any other game," he said.

"But it is different because there's a big crowd, it's a carnival atmosphere and it's a big venue. Those venues we don't play at week in, week out, so it's a good opportunity to play somewhere really good."

He continued: "It doesn't matter what Leeds team we come up against, they're still going to be tough to beat so we've got to worry more about our form than theirs and if we're at the top of our game we'll have a good chance of beating them.

"Every win's a good win but to beat Leeds will be a good feeling and it'll bring the atmosphere back and hopefully it will be the start of more wins to come. We need to win sooner rather than later so why not start this weekend."
