Wakefield Wildcats defeated by Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves 32 Wakefield Wildcats 16 FORMER Wildcat Ryan Atkins scored twice as Warrington Wolves cruised to victory over Wakefield.

Chris Riley ran in a hat-trick for the hosts and Chris Bridge also touched-down as the Wolves kept pace at the top of the Super League XV table.

Riley opened the scoring inside four minutes and Bridge converted his own try eight minutes later.

Aaron Murphy touched-down to reduce the arrears only for Riley to go over for his second try on 25 minutes.

Michael Korkidas grabbed his first try for Wakefield five minutes before the break and Paul Cooke added the conversion to keep Wakefield in the reckoning.

However, Atkins' try, converted by Bridge, gave Wolves a 22-10 half-time lead and the hosts added 10 points to their tally with two quick-fire tries early in the second half.

Riley completed his hat-trick, Bridge improving, four minutes after the resumption and Atkins crossed again five minutes later.

Sam Obst responded with a try, converted by Cooke, on the hour but Warrington held firm to take the points.
