YOUNG Wakefield Wildcats halfback Danny Ansell has signed for Hunslet Hawks for the 2013 season.
The former Outwood Grange Academy pupil has been a key part of the Wildcats U20s team this season but will have an opportunity to play first grade rugby next season in the Co-operative Championship.
Ansell is the newphew of Hawks head coach Barry Eaton, who was keen to give the goalkicker an opportunity at South Leeds Stadium.
“Danny has really good vision for a young player and can pass the ball excellently and is also a very consistent goalkicker,” he said.
“Opportunities have been made difficult for him following the changes to Super league clubs’ reserve team structure but that is to our advantage as Danny knows he will have to work extra hard to force his way into the team.
“He certainly possesses all the ability to be able to make his mark at Hunslet, and the signing follows our principles of signing good young players with a Super League background who have a good professional work ethic”.
Ansell played in Wildcats U20s’ victory over Castleford Tigers in the Valvoline Cup play-offs on Saturday and will continue to feature for Wakefield until the end of the current campaign.
