Serious assault in Castleford

A MAN has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Castleford at the weekend.
A 21-year-old Swillington man is due appear before Wakefield magistrates on Monday morning charged with wounding after the assault on a 19-year-old Normanton man at about 3am on Carlton Street, Castleford on Saturday.
The victim was taken to Pontefract General Infirmary with serious head injuries and later transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary where he is described as in a serious condition.
Three men arrested on Saturday in connection with the incident were released without charge.
