LEEDS United will be hoping to put a rather frustrating week of cup action behind them when they return to their League One campaign on Saturday with the big derby clash at home to Huddersfield Town.
United can count themselves unlucky to have not reached the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup after a narrow 2-1 defeat at Derby County on Tuesday evening.

County manager Paul Jewell recognised that Leeds had "battered" his side for most of the game but Leeds will now have to concentrate elsewhere if they are to win silverware.

United's FA Cup run is still alive but they face a first round replay on Monday after a frustrating 1-1 home draw with Northampton Town last week.

A replay victory at Sixfields would earn United a second-round tie against Blue Square Premier League team Histon on November 30 with the match televised by ITV.

United manager Gary McAllister hailed his team's effort at Derby, ranking the performance as the best of the season so far.

Another such performance would please the United supporters at Saturday's sell-out game against manager-less rivals Huddersfield Town.

Rising star Fabian Delph is in for a busy week ahead after his superb form was rewarded with a call-up to the England U21 squad.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been called up to Stuart Pearce's England squad that will take on the Czech Republic in a friendly at Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening - just 24 hours after the FA Cup replay at Northampton.

With the fixture list becoming ever more congested, McAllister may opt to increase the size of his squad still further by bringing former Middlesbrough striker Malcolm Christie to the club.

McAllister has revealed that he is in discussions with Christie, 29, who is without a club and has been training at Leeds in a bid to get back to full fitness.

Saturday's game between Leeds and Huddersfield Town at Elland Road will kick-off at 12.15pm.
