Productions of MacBeth and Pride and Prejudice will be performed at Pontefract and Sandal castles this summer.

Wakefield Council has launched it’s 2014 castles programme which includes The Proms in the castles, and other free events.

The events are organised in association with the Friends of Sandal Castle, Friends of Pontefract Castle and The Pontefract Heritage Group.

After the success of last year’s events, where more than 1,200 tickets were sold for the Proms alone, visitors are encouraged to buy tickets early.

There is also a discount for buying in advance.

Tickets can be bought from Pontefract and Sandal castles, Pontefract Museum, the Visitor Information Centre in Wakefield, and new for this year, online, by going to: www.wakefield.gov.uk\castleevents
