Traffic was brought to a standstill as huge trees printed on flags were transported across the city on scooters.
The ‘moving woodland’ was part of an unusual art project created by artist Richard William Wheater.
Members of Dirty Mills Scooter Club set off from Sandal Castle on Saturday and headed to The Orangery, on Back Lane, via The Hepworth Wakefield, Eastmoor, St Johns, Thornes and Westgate.
The Trees and Scooters procession culminated with the flags being “planted” in the garden of the Grade Two listed building.
The event, commissioned by creative company Beam, marked the start of Amazing Streets and Spaces, a season of artistic events which will run in the city until December.
