Apocalypse now!

HUNGRY zombies staggered through The Hepworth Wakefield to feed on its apocalyptic spring exhibition.

Visitors at the award-winning gallery – from pensioners to primary school children – were transformed into the living dead by professional make-up artists from Hybrid UK, Face Paint UK and volunteers from York University for a terrifying tour of its dark displays.

The zombies, led by members of Yew Tree Youth Theatre, roamed through sculptures, installations and performance pieces by artists Heather and Ivan Morison, Ben Rivers and David Thorpe.

A spokeswoman said the event had been “hugely popular” with residents queuing up to take part.

She added: “The day culminated with the ravenous zombie horde performing a zombie slouch around the building, scaring passers-by and local traffic.”
