Chilling tale for inspection

THE classic thriller tale of An Inspector Calls is making its way up north.

The tale, written by Bradford-born J B Priestley, has been told since the end of the Second World War on the world’s stages.

Its current tour, produced and directed by Stephen Daldry, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

An Inspector Calls, which is the longest-running play revival in history, is on at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford for one week only from March 6 to 10.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

The play is set in 1912, and watches as the mysterious Inspector Goole pays an unexpected visit to the Birling family.

Their peaceful family dinner party is shattered when the Inspector tells them a young woman has died, whom they each in turn exploited.
