But what did the residents of Wakefield have to say about the show? We asked our Facebook and Twitter followers what they thought, and this is what they had to say.

Ellie Brown said: "I was surprised that I actually really enjoyed it. I expected it to show Wakefield at its worst but it actually showed what a friendly and interesting city this is!"

Matthew Copeland, who works at the Black Rock and appeared on the show, said: "I thoroughly enjoyed representing the Black Rock and being on the show.

"I did cringe though when I was trying to describe ‘the spinny thing’ on the Cathedral - can’t even remember saying that, glad it got some laughs though!!! Great lighthearted show about the people of Wakefield."

Margaret Fleming said: "Enjoyed it but I would have liked more Trinity, Pugneys and chantry chapel."

S. C. Bås said: "Was great. A positive programme celebrating local people. Hopefully he will get to make more up and down the country.

"Too many places get talked down. Wakefield has much to celebrate. Much to improve, too, but this will come by being positive. Well done C4.

But Helen Maris wanted to see more of the city explored. She wrote: "I feel sure Wakefield has much more to offer than a pie shop ,where was Sandal Castle, Newmillerdam, Pugneys, Wakefield Cathedral? Bit poor I think."

Melanie Dews wrote: "I now live in Northumberland, left Wakefield 1999 so it was lovely seeing all the sights old and new."

Joe Wright said: "Really enjoyed it. A lighthearted jaunt round the city and I even learnt a couple of things."

Richard Brighton joked: "Nice to see the sights and a little of what's on offer but the presenter i can definitely take or leave. He got his visit to the Hepworth spot on though....in and out."

Deanlvslouise Sykes was less impressed, and said: "Started watching it and turned it off, thought it was rubbish to be fair."

Karen Else said: "Loved it a light hearted view of Wakefield . It wasn’t supposed to be a tourist information video, but fun all the same."
