Wakefield families wanted for new BBC show centred around upcycling treasured family objects

A new BBC show promises to put upcycling to the test by giving treasured items a new lease of life - and producers are looking for people from Wakefield to take part.

Under the working title of Saved and Remade, the show will see teams of expert craftspeople take on the challenge of turning viewers' "treasured but purposeless" items into pride of place pieces.

From furniture to jewellery, books to vehicles, the show promises incredible transformations for much loved items.

A spokesperson for the show said: "We’re looking for a wide variety of people to take part in our brand-new series, which will take those items and transform them into something new.

"We’re talking about those items that have stayed with you for years. It could be a car, a grand piano, family photos of generations past, the skateboard you used to ride as a kid or something else entirely.

"Maybe you bought it at a significant point in your life, it reminds you of good times, or maybe it was passed down by a family member. It’s come with you on every house move but sits at the back of the cupboard gathering dust. Yet you can’t bear the thought of throwing it out! Maybe you’ve even forgotten about it... until now.

"Our expert craftspeople are poised and ready to take on your much-loved item and turn it into something you’ll actually use and enjoy whilst still celebrating the memories and stories attached to it.

"No matter how big or small, if you have an item that you’d like our team of expert craftspeople to transform into something completely new, we’d love to hear from you today."

Executive Producer Jane Rogerson said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Sabrina, and indeed all of our crafts people on this exciting new format for BBC Two.

"We cannot wait for everyone to see what the unused but much-loved pianos, cars, books and many other items that we all have in lofts and cupboard will become with the skills and imagination of our team of craftspeople. Prepare to be surprised and delighted!”

Saved and Remade is produced by Red Sky Productions, and will air on BBC Two. Producers are now seeking potential personalities (and their loved items) from across Wakefield and West Yorlshire.
