Gerry Marsden

GERRY Marsden, whose anthemic version of the Carousel classic You’ll Never Walk Alone still raises the rafters at Anfield almost 50 years after it was recorded, will be raising the rafters of the City Varieties this Sunday.

Together with his Pacemakers, Marsden is delighted to be playing in Yorkshire.

In 1962 they were the second group to be signed by Brian Epstein; the first being The Beatles.

They burst onto the scene with three consecutive number one hits; How Do You Do It, I Like It and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

“This tour is a journey down memory lane,” said Gerry.

“I’ll perform all the songs you know and have a chat with the audience about my days on the road; offer a few stories and anecdotes. An intimate venue like the City Varieties is perfect for this kind of gig.

“It’s always great to be in the North of England and I hear the City Varieties is a beautiful place to play.”

Tickets are £19.50. Call the Box Office on 0113 243 0808 or online at www.cityvarieties.co.uk.
