Mind-bending new season in Bradford

MIND-bending illusions, spectacular circus skills and a frosty interpretation of a classic ballet are just a few of the highlights in Bradford’s spring season line-up.

Tickets are already selling fast for Derren Brown’s new show, Svengali, which comes to the Alhambra in April.

And if you were looking for a Christmas present the whole family could enjoy, look no further than the Chinese State Circus - Mulan, coming to St George’s Hall in January.

Other family favourites include George’s Marvellous Medicine and the Science Museum Live on Tour, both in March, and Swan Lake on Ice in February.

Adults can look forward to Phill Jupitus, Todd Carty and Jodie Prenger starring in Spamalot, Australian hilarity from Busting Out and an array of comedy, including Ed Byrne, John Bishop and Lenny Henry.

Direct form the West End is Avenue Q - puppets like you’ve never seen, or heard before.

Soap fans can celebrate 50 years on the Street with Corrie! in May.

Musicals abound with Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story, Roll Out the Barrell, The 80s Rocked and Grease.

Adam Renton, general manager at Bradford Theatres said: “As we head into a new year and a new season, it’s great to see so many brand new shows out on the road and calling into Bradford.

“Highlights from our diverse programme of events include To Kill A Mockingbird with Bradford-born Duncan Preston starring in the lead role; Matthew Bourne’s dance spectacle Cinderella; a new production of Jekyll & Hyde starring Marti Pellow; a brand new script from Victoria Wood with dinnerladies: second helpings; and Midnight Tango with professional dancers from the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

“You can also witness the transformation of the Alhambra into a huge ice rink when the Imperial Ice Stars return with Swan Lake on Ice.
