Miss Daisy’s drive for charity cabaret cash

Hopetown Liberal WMC is the venue for That’s Entertainment! – an evening featuring burlesque, music and fire eating to raise money for the National Autistic Society and Pontefract’s Prince of Wales Hospice.

It is being organised by two Wakefield women, burlesque dancer Daisy Lane and her friend Sharron Smart, who both have very personal reasons for supporting the two charities.

Daisy said: “Both my children have autism and we receive a lot of support from the National Autistic Society, so I want to repay some of that help.

“Sharron’s brother, Lee, has regularly spent time in the hospice over the past couple of years and it’s likely that she’ll need its support herself in the future.

“She’s wanted to put on a show like this for a long time so we’re really looking forward to it and hope it raises a lot of money.”

As well as a taste of tassel twirling, the night will feature up-and-coming Wakefield band Black Flowers Audio, several vocalists, a George Formby impersonator and a lingerie fashion show.

Fire eating and circus skills workshops will take place outside the club beforehand and there’ll be waitress service at the tables.

The event starts at 7pm and tickets are £5, with all proceeds going to the NAS and the hospice. They are on sale in advance from the club on Nelson Street, Normanton, Morgana Clothing on The Springs, Wakefield, or you can pay on the night.
