Musical bonanza in store

Featherstone band Code E were on fine form when I worked with them at a party function last weekend. Singer Scott Powell continues his solo career, in addition to his place as a singer in Code E and the act really are well worth listening to.

Teenage singing star Luke Murgatroyd has enjoyed a great year. As I reported in the Express only a fortnight ago, young Luke was recently named best male entertainer at the CIU annual clubland awards in Leeds.

Horbury WMC is set to welcome Luke for a Saturday night visit next month and I’m sure the pupil of the great singing teacher Tony Wayne will enjoy a great night.

Friday November 4 is the night for the bowling club annual presentation night at Horbury WMC and comedy duo Seaside Rendezvous are the star attraction on the night. Visitors other than bowlers are welcome, so why not take a look?

Wakefield City Club should be anticipating a great forthcoming few weeks of entertainment.

There is an evening of Billy Fury memories to enjoy at the club. Singer Dean Hubert will be performing the music of Billy Fury on Friday night and I’m sure the show will prove extremely popular.

Other forthcoming attractions at the club include singer Paul Somers and top duo Red.

Wakefield twin boy duo Sharp Experience, Michael Buble tribute singer Davey Nicholls and new singer Amelia Davis are just three of the forthcoming attractions for Friday nights.

I do hope to pop into Alverthorpe soon to catch one of their Friday night shows as I understand the new concert night down Flanshaw Lane is proving extremely popular.

Raymond Griffiths from Wakefield and Pontefract Concert Secretaries Federation emailed to remind me that admission to the forthcoming command awards night is by generous donation.

Last week I mistakenly said those wishing to attend needed a ticket. I’m sorry for the mix-up and I shall be attending the big night on November 2 at Carlton WMC near Rothwell.

Our two local hospices, Prince of Wales Hospice and Wakefield Hospice will benefit from the event.

Incidentally, aside from the command show at Carlton WMC, there is also a showcase evening , which the federation is presenting at Crofton WMC on November 16.

Singer Dean Hubert will be presenting the show and appearing on the night will be Cliff Richard tribute singer Andy Lloyd, singers Phil James and Tanya and Leigh Tetley, who has recently resumed her clubland career after some time away from the scene.

Many people will remember Leigh and her brother Danny Tetley in a popular duo called Genetix.

Halfpenny Lane Club in Pontefract is presenting some great attractions over the next few weeks and leading the way are top band The New Applejacks, who appear this weekend on Saturday night at the club.

Soul band The Solicitors are set to play at the club on November 4 for a special Friday night gig, which should be well-supported by many of their local fans.
