An internet sensation thanks to his home-made videos posted on YouTube, at just 20 Bo has become one of the USA’s youngest rising stars.
He first gained recognition in Britain at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with his show bringing five-star reviews and widespread critical acclaim, becoming the youngest performer to be nominated for the festival’s best show award in its 30-year history.
After multiple sell-out US tours and more than 70 million YouTube hits, Bo is embarking on his first major UK tour, stopping off at Leeds Carriageworks on Friday June 17.
With his new tour, Bo performs songs that toy with language, showcasing his intricate wordplay and ability to pack jokes one on top of another. The show will feature brand new material, as well as bits of his acclaimed Edinburgh show Words, Words, Words.
In America Bo has released his first LP, recorded a Comedy Central special and has a deal with director/producer Judd Apatow, writing a screenplay for what is touted as the anti-High School Musical.
He also has appearances in Apatow’s Funny People and Frederighi’s upcoming comedy Sin Bin, and is about to record a pilot show for MTV about a kid fresh out of high school who’s pursing the American dream of becoming a celebrity without having any talent.
Tickets to see Bo Burnham cost £15, available from www.carriageworkstheatre.org.uk or the box office on 0113 224 3801.
