Whitney Houston’s nephew to sing for charity at Oulton Hall

The nephew of the late singer and actress Whitney Houston will perform at a charity event at Oulton Hall later this month.

Gary Houston has flown over from America to sing at a black tie event in aid of the Bone Cancer Research Trust at the hotel on Rothwell Lane, Oulton, on July 26.

The Leeds-based charity was launched in 2006 by bereaved families who wanted to see more research carried out into bone cancer, which mainly affects children, teenagers and young adults.

Tickets are on sale for the event, which will include a champagne reception and dinner followed by live music.

Mr Houston said: “Cancer affects everyone regardless of race, gender, age or class. More importantly, bone cancer is generally diagnosed in people under the age of 30, primarily children and young adults aged 15-19.

“These are people from my generation, people who, nine times out of ten, are typically uninformed. So I feel it is imperative to not only raise money but to raise awareness as well because, in the end, knowledge is power.”

Tickets for the event, which will start at 7.30pm, cost £30 and are available online at www.justgiving.com/Gary-Houston
