Wakefield children's centres will begin to reopen
From September 1, the council’s Oakhill, Butterflies, Pomfret, Kendal Drive, Cedars, Castle, Sunbeam and Stanley children’s centres will begin to restart their services. The centres closed in March due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
To keep everyone safe and support social distancing, only those parents that have booked an appointment will be able to visit the centres. ‘Drop-in’ visits are not taking place at this time.

Coun Margaret Isherwood, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “I am pleased that our centres are gradually reopening, and we’re now at a stage where families, with pre-booked appointments, can visit.
“It is important that everyone stays safe as we adapt to a new normal, as the challenges of the virus continue. I’d encourage anyone in need of help and advice to call their local Children’s Centre, where you will receive kind and caring support from experienced professionals.”
The Wakefield district has nine children’s centres, which provide Early Help advice, support and services for families with children from pre-birth up to five-years old.
