Blacker Hall Farm shop's Cream Scone for Heroes campaign, which saw more than £200 raised thanks to the generosity of the shop’s customers, enabled the team to hand deliver the cream scones as a token gesture to show their appreciation and gratitude to NHS workers on the frontline.

Managing director Edward Garthwaite said: “We pledged to donate 100 cream scones on behalf of the farm shop and opened up a donations page to offer our customers the opportunity to be involved.

"We were overwhelmed with the amount of support we received and delighted that we were able to deliver the cream scones as a sweet treat, to help spread a little joy to those working so hard at Pinderfields and Wakefield Hospice.

“The response from the staff there was amazing, and we couldn’t have asked for nicer comments on social media.”

The farm shop remains open thanks to its largely local supply chain with strict social distancing measures in place, and the team have adopted new services in light of the coronavirus outbreak to include click and collect open seven days a week with contactless collection, a priority local home delivery for those vulnerable, elderly or self-isolating and a Drive Thru Shop.

The Farm Shop and Drive Thru is open 7 days a week 9am – 4pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am – 4pm Sunday. Customers can order online for Click & Collect or call to place an order

for local delivery.
