‘It’ll Be Reyt’ - a bitter brew to get us through with Ossett Brewery

Sometimes it’s a cup of tea, sometimes a pint, sometimes a good night’s sleep and sometimes a bit of simple reassurance that we need to get us through tough times.

One of Wakefield’s most prominent breweries has hit two of those notes with a new beer inspired by both the pandemic and some sage Yorkshire advice about how to soldier on.

Ossett Brewery’s latest concoction is a copper-coloured bitter fittingly named It’ll Be Reyt. The brewery is inviting housebound revellers to raise a glass, raise spirits and raise money for charity as the country finds its way through the coronavirus pandemic.

Ossett will donate £2 to West Yorkshire children’s hospice Forget Me Nots for every case sold while we wait for the pubs to reopen. Director of brewing Paul Spencer said: “Our creative brewers have brewed ‘It’ll be Reyt’ as a well-balanced bitter to bring some positivity and good cheer during these very challenging times. Generally, it’s the Yorkshire way to take a very positive approach to difficult times and this is our way of expressing that sentiment while also raising money for a very well deserving cause.”

The brewery said its new tipple was created using Mosaic and Chinook hops with aromas of blueberry, citrus and spice for a mellow and well balanced easy drinking ale.

A spokesman for the Forget Me Not Hospice said: “We were over the moon when Ossett Brewery told us about their I’ll Be Reyt beer and how a portion of the sales would be coming to support us during this incredibly difficult fundraising period.

“We simply couldn’t continue to care for children and families across West Yorkshire – who need us now more than ever –without the support of our local community.”

The brewery’s 26 pubs, which include The Hop and Fernandes in Wakefield and The Tap and Brewer’s Pride in Ossett, remain closed but you can order beer online at shop.ossett-brewery.co.uk.
