The Yorkshire hotels closing down after holiday group goes into administration

More than 40 hotels across the country - including four in Yorkshire - have ceased to trade after a holiday operator has gone into administration.

It was announced on Friday (May 22) that The Specialist Leisure Group had appointed administrators, meaning holidays, cruises, tours and hotels breaks were cancelled by nine different operators.

SLG operated everal businesses that sold holidays and other travel arrangements under the following brand names, which have all ceased to trade, due to the impact of COVID-19. These are; Shearings, National Holidays, ukbreakaways.com, BayHotels, Coast and Country Hotels, Country Living Hotels, Caledonian Travel, Wallace Arnold Travel and sportingbreaks.com.

The trips will not be rescheduled, it said.

These included four in Yorkshire; Bay Royal Hotel in Whitby, Bay Norbreck Hotel and Bay New Southlands Hotel, both in Scarborough, and Country Living St George in Harrogate.

All Wallace Arnold Travel shops are now permanently closed, it was also announced.

A statement on the group's website said: "The Specialist Leisure Group operated several businesses that sold holidays and other travel arrangements under the following brand names, which have all ceased to trade, due to the impact of COVID-19.

"All tours, cruises, holidays and hotel breaks booked with the Specialist Leisure Group have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

"All hotels trading as Bay Hotels, Coast & Country Hotels and Country Living Hotels will not reopen. Click here for a full list of hotels that have ceased to trade.

"All Wallace Arnold Travel shops are now permanently closed. If you booked a holiday through a travel agent that was not Wallace Arnold Travel, please contact your travel agent in the first instance."
