We are incredibly proud of our sixth form at Heckmondwicke Grammar School and the achievements of our students, writes Mr Peter Roberts.

Our former students can be found studying a wide range of courses including Medicine, Law, Pharmacy, Accounting and Finance and Fine Art, in a wide range of institutions across the UK and around the world. You will also find former students taking up higher level apprenticeships at prestigious companies.

As an academic sixth form, we offer a wide range of A-Level courses delivered by inspirational teachers. Students have the opportunity to immerse themselves fully in the subjects they choose, taught by specialist teachers who understand the transition from GCSE to A Level. Alongside their A Levels, students may opt for an elective qualification in AS French, Spanish or Further Maths, the EPQ or Core Mathematics. All the courses offered are those valued by universities and employers.

Our experienced sixth form team and outstanding in house careers team provide unbeatable support for students, with the majority of students securing their first choice destination. Whatever the ambition of the student, we are confident we can support them in reaching their full potential.

Sixth form life at Heckmondwike Grammar School is about far more than academic progress. Students have a wide range of leadership and enrichment opportunities alongside their studies, working alongside their peers, with younger students and in the wider community. Students are encouraged to develop university style societies, gaining not only insight into their chosen subject, but a wealth of organisational and leadership skills.

The facilities on offer include the Jo Cox Centre, a newly refurbished space, providing dedicated study and social space for sixth form students, a well-equipped independent learning area and thriving library. This provides ample study space allowing students to make effective use of their time each day.
