Colonel Moore, originally from Keighley, shot to fame earlier this month, when he launched a campaign to raise money for the NHS by completing 100 laps of his garden before turning 100 years old.

The campaign captured the hearts of the nation, and Colonel Moore's fundraiser now stands at over £30 million.

He also worked with singer Michael Ball to record a cover of You'll Never Walk Alone from Rogers and Hammerstein's musical Carousel, which entered the UK Singles Chart at Number 1.

To mark his 100th birthday today, he has been made an honorary Colonel, as well as receiving messages from the Prime Minister and the Queen.

And to add to the celebrations, pupils at QEGS Junior School have recorded their own version of the Colonel's song.

Headteacher Louisa Gray said: "We just wanted to do something to celebrate Captain Tom's birthday. We always say to the boys they have to be the best version of themselves and they have to make a difference.

"Captain Tom epitomises everything we want the boys to be.

"We asked the parents to send a video in and 185 of them did. We have a teacher who can sing, she recorded herself singing to the backing track and the boys then had to sing along with her.

"It's taken many hours. The boys always wear grey shirts to school but on special occasions they wear white shirts. This was a white shirt occasion."

Around two-thirds of pupils managed to record their videos before the deadline, and teachers at the school then spent a busy weekend editing the clips together into the final music video, which lasts just over three minutes.
