Care home residents in lockdown send singsong message to families in Vera Lynn tribute

Residents and staff at a Lofthouse nursing home had a sing-song to raise a bit of cheer during the lockdown.

People at Airedale House at West Ridings Nursing Home showed their families that they are well and are safe and thinking of them with a Vera Lynn singalong.

Tracey Westerman, who works at the home and filmed the video, said: "We really enjoyed doing it just because we know how hard it is for not just the residents but for the families too that are missing them so much

"It was just a random idea from carers because we knew how much our lovely residents were missing their loved ones.

"The staff involved were senior carer jasmine Thompson, housekeeper Chloe Pine, care assistants Jackie Broadhead and Saira Rauf, and activities co-ordinator Joanne Dawson.

"The residents were Maddie, jenny, Hilary, Christine, Florence, Marjorie and Daisy, they thoroughly enjoyed it and are wanting to do another one."
