Yorkshire readers are most looking forward to seeing family and going on holiday when lockdown is eased, they have said.

More than 4,000 people responded across the region to surveys on how the pandemic has affected their licves and what their thoughts and expectations are for the future.

JPI Media publications including The Yorkshire Post with sister titles such as the Yorkshire Evening Post, The Star (Sheffield), Wakefield Express, Halifax Courier, Dewsbury Reporter and the Scarborough News, asked their readers a series of questions following the coronavirus outbreak.

Choosing up to three answers, the majority of people said that seeing family was what they were looking forward to most, with 3,186 people (75.59 per cent) saying so, while 2,426 (57.56 per cent) said socialising with friends.

After those, 1,471 people (41.30 per cent) said they wanted to enjoy the outdoors again, 704 (16.70 per cent) looked forward to going back to their place of work, 627 (14.88 per cent) said they were looking forward to their children going back to school and 120 people (2.85 per cent) were not sure.

When it came to the activities that readers most looked forward to - and they could choose all that applied - going on holidays/ trips was the answer that topped the survey, with 2,813 people (66.74 per cent) choosing this.

Close behind was eating out and going to pubs/bars, something that 2,640 (62.63 per cent) looked forward to, followed by going to the barber/hairdresser, with 2,199 (52.17 per cent) picking that choice.

Going shopping, to the cinema, theatre, live music etc, or for days out at leisure attractions were all options that received more than 1,500 ticks.

However, 1,654 (39.24 per cent) also said they would be very concerned about going back out to public places like shops, bars, restaurants and cinemas, while just a few more, 1,663 (39.45 per cent), were slightly concerned.

Playing sports/ going to the gym/ exercise classes, attending sports events and going for beauty/ pampering treatments each got hundreds of ticks.
