With a huge number of shops and stores being ordered to close their doors to protect both customers and staff during the outbreak of coronavirus, there are a few essential shops remaining open.

Pubs, restaurants and cinemas have been told to close along with retails shops, but there are still some 'essential' stores remaining open during the lockdown.

Shops that are exempt from the government's ban are pharmacies, hardware stores, food retailers, corner shops, petrol stations, hospital shops, banks, post offices, launderettes, pet shops and newsagents.
