Wakefield Council is asking for residents help to take part in the first district wide survey of health and wellbeing since 2009

The Adult Health Population survey is open to all Wakefield residents over the age of 18 years old. It asks about their health, mental health, and the things they do and experience in daily life.

Wakefield district has an increasingly diverse population, with many different communities and neighbourhoods. Some people living in poorer areas have worse health than people living in better-off areas. To close this gap and help improve everyone’s health, the council is keen to understand more about residents’ health and wellbeing, and what services they need.

Other surveys, normally available to the council, do not provide the type of detailed information that relate to people’s lifestyles, how much exercise they take and how often they visit the dentist.

Anna Hartley, Director of Public Health for Wakefield, said: “It is important that we understand as much as possible about the health and wellbeing of our residents, so that we can design the right services to meet their needs.

“The more residents we get to fill out the survey, the more we learn about all our communities. It’s really important that every community in Wakefield District is represented in the findings of this survey.

“I would urge everyone to let us know about their health, wellbeing and the things they go through in their daily life. We really want to hear what matters to you.”

All answers are kept anonymous and people don’t have to answer any questions they prefer not to. It should take no more than 20 minutes to do. Anyone who cannot access the online version can call, 0800 358 0337 and complete the survey over the phone.

The survey closes on 9 April 2023.
