The idea came about after the residents took part in the Thursday night Clap for the NHS, with staff and care workers wanting to create something outside the box to show their own appreciation.

Emily Waugh, activities coordinator at the Castleford care home, said: “We wanted to do something that would lift everyone's spirits, including the residents and their families who they can’t see.

“We decided to make the video once we’d chatted to residents who were happy to be filmed.

“We just wanted to show everyone that we are all still smiling, while showing the residents' families that they’re all alright.

“Obviously it’s not a nice time for them having no visitors so we wanted to make them part of something special."

Once staff had finished filming, the care home’s maintenance man put the footage together into a video.

Emily said: “A lot of our residents have been a bit down because we can’t go on our weekly trips, but this video brought us all together and made us all smile.”

“We all had such a laugh filming, we’re like a big family.”
