"I have a lovely 13 year old granddaughter, Ella, who currently lives with me and her granddad. Ella had been staying at her best friend, Eden Carney's, house on the Sunday previous to this.

"When I became ill, Sam Carney, her best friend's mum didn’t hesitate to support myself and Ella.

"As I was in isolation Sam immediately offered for Ella to stay , where she was, in the Carney family home.

"Sam has been such a support to me and Ella, providing comfort and reassurance.welcoming her into her family.

"Every day she has contacted me with updates and encouraged and supervised Ella to do her school work .

"Ella's daddy lives in Cheshire and offered to bring Ella to his home but it was felt it would be better to keep her in the current isolation home with Sam and her family.

"In addition to this, A member of the public , a single mum, posted on Outwood Network page that she was struggling and looking for a local food bank.

"Within minutes, Sam contacted the lady and personally drove to her house with supplies of food from her home.

"Sam then encouraged Stanley and Outwood residents to support vulnerable residents with food and offered her Pub as a collection point.

"Today she collected several bags of food and delivered these to local residents as well as supporting St Catherine's Church with food supplies.

"Sam has also stated to use her daily running excercise to raise money for patients living with dementia.

"She has set up a just giving page and Stanley residents are contributing to this.

"She has such compassion, is absolutely selfless, kind and a credit, if we could clone Sam Carney, the world would be a better place

"So Sam, in my opinion is a local hero, but she is also mine and Ella's her. A landlady with a heart as big. as the beer barrels in her pub cellar, a heart of gold."
