With the rise in puppies being purchased since the start of the pandemic, Burgess has estimated just how much of a financial investment dogs are, and what pet owners are required to pay for pet insurance, as well as their essential health and wellbeing needs.
The findings by the Yorkshire-based pet food provider, reveal that Cocker Spaniels were the most popular breed of dog purchased since the first lockdown. In second place comes Miniature Dachshunds, followed by Springer Spaniels, French Bulldogs and Cockapoos. However, buying one of these dogs comes with commitment and a hefty price tag as costs have trebled in price since 2019.
