Watch as Wakefield school comes together to perform their own song in dedication of frontline workers

Horbury Academy have released a music video dedicated to the front line workers during the pandemic.

Inspired by other videos made by celebrities across the country, head of music, Daniel Ray, teamed up with colleague Karen Scott to write their own song.

Students joined in the fun from home and all took part in making the special video.

Mr Ray said: "We are really lucky at Horbury that music is a strong subject for us and it engaged the kids into doing something positive."

Mr Ray proposed the project to parents and they were all keen to join in a dedicated numerous hours to practise the new song.

"I'm really proud of not just what they have done, but the amount of children to be at home and to buy into the project that was not mandatory.

"It is a testament to their character." Mr Ray said.

Students ranging from Year Seven to Year 11 all joined in the song all performing their own parts.

"They have all been able to pull together even though they are not together and make something positive."
