Shopping stars - nominate your favourite in the first Wakefield Retail Awards

Wakefield Retail Awards
Wakefield Retail Awards

Shopping is a national past time – but it is the hundreds of businesses and staff that really make it special in Wakefield.

In recent years Wakefield has become a popular destination where you can visit all the major retailers as well as unique independent stores.

The emergence of Trinity Walk and the ongoing redevelopment of the Ridings has helped the cause, but there are also a host of traditional high street stores, some of which have been based in Wakefield for several decades.

It is a celebration of this retail heritage and the new arrivals that our inaugural Wakefield Retail Awards is founded on.

Wakefield Express editor Mark Bradley said: “We are delighted to demonstrate our support for Wakefield’s retail trade with this new competition. We really hope that all manner of businesses get involved and take a few minutes out to enter.”

The scheme is run in partnership with both the Ridings and Trinity Walk, and supported by the Wakefield City Centre Partnership.

And it will culminate in a party night in The Space where the trophies will be handed out.
