The girl suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Sergeant Matt Tunney, of West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision enquiry team, said “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, who did not provide their details to officers at the scene, to contact us.

“We are also trying to contact the driver of a vehicle that is thought to have been directly behind the Blue Ford Focus when the collision occurred and may have turned their vehicle around and left the scene prior to emergency services attending.”
