World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst will be back on the pitch... in Castleford tomorrow (Friday).
The hat-trick hero from the 1966 final will be at Castleford Academy on Ferrybridge Road, to help celebrate match funding for a 3G community pitch for both football and rugby.
Headteacher George Panayiotou said: “We are delighted to have received such a large sum of funding (for the pitch) from the Premier League. The state-of-the-art facility will add value to the school and benefit the community. To have someone of the prestige of Sir Geoff Hurst visit the school is a great honour.“
The visit coincides with the launch of the 2015 FA Community Awards for unsung heroes.
The awards are presented by McDonald’s.
